A man drove a car into the Leeds Liverpool canal after he 'failed to navigate a bend' when he was pursued by Lancashire Road Police.
Police were alerted to the orange Fiesta after the driver failed to stop on New Lane in Burnley at around 4.40am on Saturday, April 15.
The car made off and a stinger was deployed on Todmorden Road, say police.
Shortly after, the car entered a turning basin of the Leeds Liverpool canal.
Police have now released shocking footage that was shot by NPAS Barton of the car entering the water.
A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: "An orange Ford Fiesta failed to stop for Lancashire Road Police in New Lane, Burnley.
"A stinger was deployed and the police helicopter was called out. The Fiesta then made off and entered into the Leeds Liverpool canal.
A man was later found by the helicopter hiding in bushes. He was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and driving while disqualified."
Nobody was injured during the incident.
