A shoplifter who helped himself to confectionery and razors did it because, he said, he was not very good at budgeting, a Burnley court heard.

Burnley magistrates were told how Conrad Lee Howarth (35) who was on employment and support allowance, had succumbed to temptation in B and M Bargains in the town centre on August 6th.

He admitted theft totalling £36. The defendant was given a six month conditional discharge and must pay £85 costs, a £15 victim surcharge and a £150 criminal court charge.
