Both men were taken to hospital for treatment.

Ahmed was arrested by police and later charged with two counts of attempted murder.

At court Ahmed pleaded guilty to two counts of Section 18 wounding and was jailed for 11 years at a Young Offender Institute.

Det. Con. Hannah Brown, of Burnley CID, said: “This was a shocking and brutal attack which left the victims with serious injuries.

“Ahmed had been involved with a dispute with one of the victims a day earlier on July 15.

“He confronted the victims, parked in a car, attacking both before leaving them badly injured. It was fortunate no-one was more seriously harmed.

“Nasar Ahmed is clearly a violent individual and the jail term reflects the gravity of his actions.”
