A Burnley teenager who gave authorities false details to police when he was stopped as officers searched for three men who ran from a car has been charged with obstructing police.
Hassan Ali Khan (18) was apprehended in the early hours of the morning of March 6th and gave a false name and date of birth, although he later gave his real name at the police station.
The Burnley College student, who lives on Barden Lane in Burnley, ended up in custody after the incident in Nelson and admitted to obstructing police before the town's magistrates.
He was also given an £80 fine and was told to pay a £30 victim surcharge and £85 costs with Mr Ben Leech, defending, saying Khan spent 13 hours in custody.
The solicitor added: "Had he given his proper details, its very unlikely he would have been arrested."
