Detectives are appealing for information after a man attacked two girls in Burnley.
The two girls, both aged 13, were cutting through Chichester Close behind Burnley Football Club’s Turf Moor stadium shortly after 7pm on Saturday, November 22nd, when they were approached by the lone man who attacked them both.
The attacker grabbed one of the girls by the hair but released her when she kicked him in self-defence. He then grabbed the second girl by her waist and pushed her to the floor. She screamed causing the man to run away.
Both girls were extremely shaken up but otherwise uninjured.
The attacker is described as white, around 18 years of age, skinny build, wearing jeans and a dark coat with fur around the hood, which was pulled up over his head.
Det. Sgt Charlie Haynes from East Lancashire CID said: “This was a disturbing incident but thankfully the girls weren’t physically hurt. We have stepped up patrols in the area and we have had no other similar reports since this attack.
“Given the age of the two girls and the time of year, I would like to remind all students to consider their personal safety when walking anywhere at night.”
