A TAKEAWAY delivery man was robbed shortly after dropping food off at a house in Burnley.

The frightening incident happened in Barclay Avenue around 8-30 p.m. on Friday, February 17th when the driver was carrying out a delivery in his red Toyota Starlet.

The 46-year-old man had just dropped off a delivery of food before turning the car around to head back to his shop, Papa Sams takeaway in St James Street.

He was approached by three white men, one of whom opened his car door, grabbed and threatened him before stealing the takings of around £200.

Although there are no descriptions of the two men who stood watching, the third man is described as between 20 and 25 years-old, medium build, around 5ft8in. tall with short hair and wearing dark clothes.

DC Bryan Chaloner from Burnley CID said: “I would appeal to anyone who has any information about this attack to come forward and contact the police.

“These men need to be caught before they strike again and I would ask people who can assist this investigation to get in touch.

“I would also urge other delivery people as well as taxi drivers to only carry the minimum amount of money necessary and to be vigilant.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Burnley CID on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
