Suspected burglars caught in Burnley town centre thanks to eagle-eyed member of public

Two men were spotted attempting to break into a shop in Yorke Street.

The witness immediately informed the police who were quickly on scene and chased one man down the street before arresting him. A search of the shop found another man hiding inside.

A spokesman for Burnley and Padiham Police said in a Facebook post: "Two local males, aged 31 and 48, are now at Burnley Custody.

"Times are hard enough for local businesses struggling to make money during lockdown without people causing damage and stealing from them. Hopefully, we can put these two before court later today."
