Stolen car in 100mph police chase stopped by stinger

A stolen car was pursued at speeds of up to 126mph on a chase through the Ribble Valley.

The Peugeot 207 was spotted by police travelling at high speed towards Barrowford at 11-40pm on Wednesday.

A police spokesman said: “Officers gave pursuit and when the car failed to stop a stinger device was deployed near to the Bramley Meade roundabout on the A59.

“The car continued for another two miles before it came to a stop at the Petre roundabout near Langho.”

A 20 year-old man from Accrington was arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking.
