Soldier remanded over service station knife incident

A SERVING soldier has been remanded in custody after he allegedly brandished a knife at service station staff.

Daniel Whalley (23) of Hollingreave Road, Burnley, did not enter a plea when he appeared at Burnley Magistrates’ Court charged with affray and possessing a bladed article in a public place.

The charges relate to an incident at a service station at Eastern Avenue on Thursday, December 27th.

Mr Andrew Robinson (prosecuting) said that a large butcher’s knife with a 20cm blade was found at the scene. No-one was injured.

Whalley was remanded in custody to appear at Burnley Crown Court on January 14th.
