Police are appealing for help finding a prisoner who has absconded from prison.

Carl John Tanner (23) left HMP Kirkham this morning.

He is currently serving a 20-month sentence for robbery.

He is described as white with brown hair and green eyes and scars to his upper lip and near his right eye. He has several tattoos including the word "mum" on his neck, the word "Jade" on the left side of his body, the word "hope" on his left hand and tribal design on his right arm.

He has links to Blackburn and Burnley.

Det. Sgt Madeleine Sawyer said: “We are keen to trace Tanner and return him to prison immediately. We would urge anybody who has seen him, or knows where he may be, not to approach him but to contact us straight away.

“Similarly if Tanner himself sees this appeal we would urge him to hand himself in at the nearest police station.”

Anybody who sees him or knows where he may be should contact police on either 101 or 01253604193, quoting log number 612 of November 23rd.
