Police warning to Burnley heroin users

Police are issuing a warning to heroin users in Burnley and across Lancashire following information that there may be a batch of high purity drugs in the county.

Officers have received information that the high-strength heroin could be circulating in the Lancashire area.

Det. Supt Lee Halstead, the force lead for drugs said: “We have received information that there may be a batch of heroin in Lancashire with a high purity.

“We are looking into this and officers are making inquiries throughout Lancashire to see whether there is any foundation in these reports but it would be remiss of us not to issue a warning to drug users to be mindful that there may be a particular batch out on the streets that could prove lethal.

“Our advice would be for users to seek immediate medical attention if they notice any different symptoms or start to feel unwell.

“Lancashire Constabulary takes a proactive response into tackling the issue of drugs in the county.”

People with information about illegal drug related activity are urged to come forward and contact police on 101 or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
