Police vow they will take action against Burnley drivers who intend to 'race' their cars or drive dangerously at 'meets'

Police have issued a warning they will take action against anyone intending to race cars or drive dangeously after a so called 'car mod massive' meeting in Burnley last night.

Officers attended the gathering of car owners, who have modified their vehicles, on the Farrington Road industrial estate off Rossendale Road.

A spokesman for Burnley Police said: "Most were pleasant and well behaved with some very nice motors.

"But we did have to issue section 59 warnings to two people."

A section 59 is issued to deal with with vehicles being used anti-socially, such as unlawful off road use or for car 'cruising' type activity.

The spokesman added: "If you come here to race your cars, drive dangerously or have exhausts that make your car sound broken we will take action.

"Not only that but as the orgnaisers keep saying, you WILL ruin it for everyone else."
