Police negotiators managed to talk down a man threatening to throw himself off the culvert in Yorkshire Street last night.
The 30-year-old was spotted on the culvert around 6-45pm on Wednesday and police treated it as “a concern for safety”.
A police spokesman said: “Part of Yorkshire Street was cordoned off and an ambulance mobilised as trained officers spoke to the man who was straddling the culvert.
“The man was being treated as a concern for safety because he was threatening to harm himself. Thankfully he was talked down around 7-05pm and taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital as a precaution.”
