Police still appealing for information following Boxing Day assault


The 19-year-old victim of a serious assault on Boxing Day in Padiham has been discharged from hospital.

Police have arrested and charged a man following the assault which took place in Herbert Street at around 1am.

The 19-year-old man from Burnley was taken to hospital with head injuries where he was initially in a critical condition.

A short time after the alleged assault there was a further altercation around Herbert Street involving a number of men, resulting in some of them receiving injuries.

Police are appealing for anybody with information about either incident to come forward.

Det. Supt Steve Pemberton said: “We are investigating two assaults which we believe to be connected, however the exact circumstances surrounding both incidents remain unclear.”

Thomas Dooley (21) of Coal Clough Lane, Burnley, was due to appear at Blackburn Magistrates Court on Friday December 27th charged with section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent.
