Police pledge action after flood of complaints about drug users in Brierfield alleyway

Police have stepped up patrols after a flood of complaints about anti-social behaviour, including groups gathering and taking drugs, in a Brierfield alleyway.

The culprits have also been smoking and littering the area with empty drug packets in the alleyway at the top of Chapel Street.

Along with increased patrols in the area, Nelson neighbourhood police team have sent out a reminder that under current lockdown rules groups should not be gathering and outings must be essential.

A spokesman said: "I have no doubt that everyone now knows the government rules and we would like to thank those who are already complying and have done from the beginning."
