Police officer punched after breaking up street brawl in Clitheroe

The incident happened in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police were called to reports of disorder and groups of people congregating after visiting bars and pubs.

During the incident, a police officer was punched suffering minor injuries.

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: "We were called around 12-45am yesterday (Sunday) to reports of disorder in Wellgate, Clitheroe. Officers attended to find a number of people fighting in the street. During the disorder an officer was punched on the arm suffering minor injuries.

"A 17-year-old boy from Clitheroe was arrested on suspicion of assault and later released under investigation pending further enquiries."
