Police investigate suspected arson attack at Padiham block of flats

An investigation is under way after a bottle containing some form of accelerant was thrown at a block of flats.

Emergency services were called to converted flats on Lune Street in Padiham just after 1am today (Tuesday).

A police spokesman said: "We believe someone has thrown a bottle at a window which contained some form of accelerant. Luckily, the bottle did not smash the window and no injuries were reported. The incident is being treated as arson. No arrests have been made as yet."

A spokesman for Lancashire Fire and Rescue said: "Two fire engines from Padiham and Burnley attended an incident on Lune Street in Padiham. The fire involved flammable materials on the rear of the property and firefighters used one hose reel to extinguish the fire. They were at the scene for three hours."
