Police hunt phone swap conman

Police are hoping to trace a man who duped his victim into a phone swap con.

The incident happened in St James Street, Burnley on Friday, September 26th, at 6-45pm. The victim had used the website Gumtree to advertise a mobile phone, an iPhone 5C, to swap with a 5s. The offender contact the victim on an unknown number and they arranged to meet.

The victim examined the new phone which seemed in good working order but at some point during the exchange the offender replaced it with a dummy iPhone. By the time the victim realised the offender had made off. He is described as a white male, aged 22 to 26 and of slim build with baby blonde hair that is curly on top and shaved at the sides. He spoke with a local accent and anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting crime reference FA1409941.
