Police hunt masked offender who entered elderly Burnley woman's home demanding money

Police are hunting a masked offender who went into the home of an elderly woman in Burnley yesterday with the demand: 'Where's the money?'

The shocking incident happened at around 5pm in Essex Avenue.

The victim, who lives alone, left the rear door unlocked as she was expecting the gas man to come around at some point in the afternoon

A white vehicle pulled up outside her address and three males got out and walked towards her property.

The victim then heard the back door open and she was confronted by a male offender who she described as wearing a mask and gloves. Offenders then left the address empty handed.

Lancashire Police have appealed for residents to keep their windows and doors secure to deter would be thieves who may try and take advantage of the lockdown situation.

Inquiries into the incident are ongoing by Lancashire Police and no arrests have yet been made. Anyone with information is asked to call 1010 with the log number 1103 of April 8th or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
