A thug who carried out an unprovoked attack on a Burnley nightclub reveller, leaving him with a broken cheekbone and fractured eye socket is being hunted by police.

Detectives are appealing for information after the 25-year-old man was punched in the face in Posh nightclub in Ormerod Street.

The incident happened between 1 and 3am on January 19th as the victim was walking across the dance floor.

His attacker punched him in the face, knocking him unconscious and leaving him needing hospital treatment.

Officers are trying to trace the man responsible and are appealing for anyone who may have seen what happened to contact them.

DC Hayden Sibley said: “We are making a number of inquiries to try and trace the person responsible and, as part of that, I would appeal to anyone who was in the club and saw what happened to get in touch with us.

“The victim was wearing a white T-shirt with a grey cardigan over the top and dark jeans, and the assault happened as he crossed the dance floor to find his friends.”

Anyone with information is urged to call police on 101, quoting log number LC-20131125-1380, or Crimestoppers, in confidence on 0800 555 111.
