Arsonists threw petrol bombs at a Burnley house in a shocking early hours incident.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses to the arson attack which happened around 1-15am on Tuesday, September 1st, when glass bottles containing lit accelerants were thrown at the back kitchen window of a mid-terraced house in Briercliffe Road.

The property is located between Haydock Street and Towneley Street with Eldwick Street to the rear.

Det. Sgt Tim Brown of Burnley CID said: “While the fire caused minimal damage, this clearly could have been a great deal worse and potentially put lives at risk.

“I am appealing to anyone who may have seen anything of significance between the hours of 12-30am and 1-30am to contact us.

“I am particularly interested in hearing from anyone who may have seen anybody loitering around the area, acting suspiciously or running from or near to the scene.”
