Police investigating a robbery in Laithe Street in Burnley are asking anyone with information to come forward.

At around 3-50pm on Thursday a 46-year-old man from Bolton was approached by a man as he was getting into his gold BMW X5 vehicle.

Police said he was then pushed by the man who got into the car and started it.

The victim has got up from the floor and attempted to grab the thief through the open driver window.

However, the offender has then reversed at speed, dragging the victim alongside for a short distance before the vehicle has braked causing the victim to fall to the floor.

According to the police, the car has then been driven off towards Berry Street.

DS Zoe Russo, of Burnley CID, said: “The victim has understandably been left shaken by the incident and is lucky not to have been seriously hurt.

“I would urge anyone with information about this incident to contact the police.”

The offender is described as a white man in his twenties, approximately 6ft. tall, of a stocky build with short, dark brown hair.

Anyone with information can contact Burnley CID on 472118 quoting log number 0871 of June 11th.
