POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a 14-year-old boy was involved in a minor collision with a car in Burnley.

The incident happened at 5-50 p.m. on Friday when the boy was crossing Eastern Avenue, near to the junction of Torquay Avenue.

He was struck by a dark coloured people carrier that was travelling towards Burnley centre but the vehicle failed to stop.

PC Brendan Williams, from the Road Policing Unit, said: “Fortunately the boy’s injuries are relatively minor and consist of bruising to his right leg and foot.

“It is possible that the driver was unaware that he had struck the young boy and therefore I would appeal to anybody driving a dark coloured people carrier in this area around this time to come forward. I would also be keen to speak with anyone that witnessed this collision.”

Anyone with any information should contact Lancashire Police on 08451 25 35 45.
