Amy Barnes was sentenced to 14 weeks in prison following an investigation led by PC Hill from the Nelson Neighbourhood Policing Team.
He said: “This result demonstrates the hard work and tenacity of officers involved and sends out a message that this behaviour will not be tolerated. Local businesses have suffered significant loss over the past months which is unacceptable.”
When Barnes is released, she will be subject to a criminal behaviour order banning her from local stores.
