Pendle Council leader Mohammed Iqbal has asked the public to let the police do their job after a teenager was shot in Brierfield.

The 18-year-old man was rushed to hospital with serious facial injures after a suspected firearm was discharged in Humphrey Street yesterday at 7-10pm.

“Police patrols are being stepped up in the area and we’re urging local people to let the police undertake their investigation so that the perpetrators can be identified, and appropriate action taken.

“Please do talk to a police officer if you have any information which could help.

“We’re also asking local people who have information to call Lancashire Police via 101 quoting incident reference 1289 of March 10th.

“People also have the option to contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org."
