Outraged parents at Sacred Heart RC Primary School decided to take matters into their own hands following the burglary on Thursday, November 12th, which included money raised by the pupil's poppy appeal.

It is the fifth time in two years that the Red Lane school has been targeted, with thousands of pounds worth of property being stolen and damaged each time.

Within hours of the early morning attack, parents had set up a JustGiving page and ploughed their own money into the cause.

Headteacher John Robertshaw said: "It was heartbreaking to hear that we had been broken into for the fifth time in two years, especially given the current times when we really dont have the money to replace the stolen items for the children.

"After such terrible news, we were so overwhelmed to hear that a crowdfunding page had been set up.

"I'd like to thank each and every person who has donated so far. We couldn't ask for a more supportive school community, it's fantastic."
