Two men were hospitalised after an argument broke out in a Burnley pub on New Year’s Day.
A group of friends were enjoying a night out in the Princess Royal Pub, Yorkshire Street, when an argument at around 11pm led to the group spilling out onto the street.
A 22-year-old student intervened as a peacemaker and was punched to the face causing a fractured eye socket and bleeding to the rear of his eye.
The offender is described as a white man in his mid-20s, approximately 6ft., stocky build with short dark hair. During the same incident another 22-year-old man was assaulted and sustained a broken jaw.
Both men were taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital.
Det. Sgt Alisa Wilson said: “Shortly before the two males were assaulted, two women were involved in a fight on Yorkshire Street and it is believed this incident is connected.
“I am appealing for anyone with information about this incident to come forward, I am particularly keen to trace witnesses who may have seen the assault on the two men.”
Anybody with any information should contact the police on 101.
