Detectives are appealing for information after a 59-year-old woman was attacked by two men while walking home in Padiham.

The assailants struck around 11pm on Wednesday, August 6th, as the woman was walking home from work.

As she crossed Holland Street, she was approached from behind by two men. One of them hit her in the face while the other tried to take her handbag. Once it was clear she would not release the bag both men walked away from her.

The matter was reported to police the following day.

DC Harvinder Uppal said: “I am keen to speak with anyone who can provide us with any information about who these men are. We have examined CCTV in the area and are following other investigative avenues.

“The lady has not been seriously hurt but has been left shaken and distressed by this attack.

“Both attackers are described as slim white youths aged 16 to 21 years old. One was wearing dark coloured jogging bottoms and a grey hoodie while the second man was wearing dark coloured jogging bottoms and a dark hoodie.”
