A MAN from Padiham spent three days in hospital after being subjected to a serious attack.
The cowardly assault took place near Melbourne Street when the 48-year-old was walking home from Padiham town centre.
He was hit from behind by an unknown number of people and suffered severe cuts and bruises under each eye and a bleed on his brain. He spent three days in the Royal Blackburn Hospital but is now recovering at home.
Police have appealed for witnesses to the vicious assault which left the victim with a vague recollection of the attack.
PC Shaun Hanna said: “Due to the man’s injuries he cannot recall anything of the incident, and even the date is unclear at present. It was either September 5th or 6th.
“It is believed he walked home from Padiham town centre via Hapton Street, Stockbridge Road and Melbourne Street. He may have walked to Drink Express in Hapton Road at some point on this daily journey where we believe he was assaulted.
“He does recall members of the public coming to his aid saying he’d been assaulted.”
Any information can be passed to PC 4191 Hanna, planned response office, on 472180.
