A PADIHAM man has today been jailed for two years after police discovered almost £8,000 of drugs in his car.

Norrie William Doogan (44) of Church Street, pleaded guilty to possessing cocaine and mephedrone with intent to supply at Burnley Crown Court today.

His sentence comes after a lengthy investigation by Pennine Division’s CID and Targeted Crime Unit, which was launched after officers found around £7,800 worth of mephedrone and cocaine hidden under the passenger seat of his BMW on June 28th, 2010.

DC James North said: “Doogan was hiding a large amount of Class A and Class B drugs in his car and I hope it sends out a warning to offenders who think they can hide illegal substances, that they will be targeted, investigated and brought to justice.

“Tackling drugs and the misery they cause to our communities is a key priority for the police and we will continue to do everything we can to remove them and those involved in dealing them from our streets.”

Anyone with information or concerns about drugs in their community can contact police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
