Two men charged with the murder of Burnley man Keith Passmore have made their first appearance in court.

Paul Howarth (47) of Clifton Road, Burnley, and Gary Burley (44) of Herbert Road, Burnley, spoke only to confirm their name and address when they appeared at Burnley Magistrates’ Court.

Burley has also been charged with making threats to kill and possessing an offensive weapon.

Both were remanded in custody until Thursday when they will appear at Preston Crown Court.

Police were called to a flat in Clifton Road, off Padiham Road, at 6-30pm on Saturday where they discovered the body of Mr Passmore.

A post mortem examination established the cause of death as multiple stab wounds.
