Man seriously assaulted in Burnley town centre

Detective are appealing for information after a 52-year-old man was attacked in Burnley.

The man was initially attacked by another man inside Barcode, Hammerton Street, at around 3-50am on Sunday, December 1st.

He left the bar but was followed by two men onto Queens Lancashire Way where they punched him to the floor and kicked him in the face.

Both attackers then ran away leaving the man lying on the floor semi-conscious. He was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital with a swollen eye and a cut to his lip which required surgery.

Det. Sgt Charlie Haynes said: “I am keen to speak with anyone who can provide us with any information about the assault in the pub and/or the assault which followed shortly after on Queens Lancashire Way.

“Even the smallest amount of information could help as we search for the people responsible for this vicious assault.”

Police have also released a CCTV image of a three men they are keen to speak with in connection with the assaults.

Det. Sgt Haynes added: “If anybody recognises any of the men captured on CCTV then I would urge them to contact police.”
