The incident happened between 7-10 and 7-20am in Rakeshouse Road, Nelson, near to the junction of Leeds Road when two men have got out of what is believed to be a silver coloured Volkswagen Golf and stopped a 23-year-old man on his way to work.

They have made demands for money, grabbed him by the neck and one of the pair produced a knife from his pocket and pushed it against the victim’s stomach.

Officers are particularly keen to trace two women who may have witnessed the incident.

Sgt Craig Kelshaw from Nelson Police said: “We want to speak to anyone who may have seen these men trying to rob the victim.

“We know that two women in a dark coloured hatchback vehicle stopped alongside the Golf and asked if everything was okay, before the offenders got back into their vehicle and drove off. If this was you, please get in touch.

“Similarly, if you have any information about this incident at all, please make contact with us.”
