Burnley magistrates were told how William Alan Exton (27) struck on Bull Street in the town after the owner had parked up and had gone for something to eat. When they returned at about 11pm they found a police officer standing next to the Mazda and two large dents in the passenger side of the vehicle which weren't there before.

Mrs Tracy Yates, prosecuting, told the court: "The defendant was seen on CCTV having an argument with his partner and in frustration kicking out at the car, causing damage."Operators had passed the information to the police. Officers located the defendant. He was close -by and admitted the offence.

Exton, of Hollingreave Road, Burnley, admitted criminal damage on March 25th. He was made subject to a £350 compensation order and was told to pay £85 costs. He had no previous convictions.

Mr John Rusius (defending) said: "He made full and frank admissions. He can't understand why he has done it. He is very apologetic. He was offered a conditional caution, but couldn't afford to do that."
