Man arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting schoolgirls

Detectives investigating the sexual assault of two school-girls in Burnley have arrested a man.

The 24-year-old, from Burnley, was arrested in the town centre yesterday afternoon.

He is currently in custody and being questioned on suspicion of sexual assault.

Police launched an investigation after a 13-year-old was walking through the subway between Gala Bingo and Burnley bus station at about 7-50am on Tuesday, December 6th, when she was approached from behind by a man.

He grabbed her arm and then put his hand up her skirt and touched her bottom.

He made off after he was disturbed but was seen a short time later appearing to follow a second school-girl.

A second girl, ages 14, was approached on Lower Tentre at about 8-30am on Wednesday, December 7th and grabbed her around the waist.
