Man arrested over Burnley house blast

A man has been arrested in connection with an explosion which rocked rocked a quiet Burnley street.

The blast ripped through parts of the ground floor of the semi-detached property in Coleshill Avenue on Thursday night.

Now police have arrested a 40-year-old man from Chorley on suspicion of conspiring to cause an explosion likely to endanger life or damage property. He has been bailed pending further inquiries until September 30th.

Detectives believe an explosive device may have caused the blast which happened on Thursday around 11-15pm – but tests are still being carried out.

The front door and hallway of the house were badly damaged in the blast which sprayed debris 20ft down the road.

Police say the house was empty at the time and nobody was injured.
