Man arrested after suspected arson attack at the back of Colne's Langroyd Hall

A man has been arrested on suspicion of setting fire to an outbuilding at the rear of the historic Grade II listed building.

Two fire engines and police attended the scene yesterday evening to extinguish the flames.

Shortly after, a spokesman for Colne and West Craven Police posted a statement on their Facebook page: "Residents of Colne, you may have seen emergency services activity in and around Langroyd Hall, Colne this evening, and social media posts suggesting the hall had been set alight.

"We can confirm that there was a small fire at the rear of the site in a outbuilding, the hall itself has not been affected and remains intact. The fire was extinguished by our colleagues from Lancashire Fire and Rescue.

"With regards to the fire itself, we believe that it is suspicious and as such your Local Policing Team have arrested a male on suspicion of arson. The male is now in custody awaiting interview regarding the incident."
