Man arrested after racist graffiti daubed on car and house in Accrington

A man has been arrested in Accrington after a car and house in the town had racist graffiti daubed on them.

The incident happened in the Stevenson Street West area of Accrington where a black marker pen was used to write offensive words referring to Nazi Germany.

Officers arrested a man in the town on Saturday in relation to the vandalism. The man was also suspected of having amphetamine and cannabis on him when he was stopped by the police.

PC Paul Wolstenholme of Hyndburn Police said: "This kind of offence is treated very seriously due to the implications on not only the victims, but the hate crime that can also escalate. We encourage any such victims to contact the police and it goes without saying, not to take matters into their own hands.

"Our objective as a community neighbourhood team is to work with members of the community and tackle priority issues."
