Magistrates grant closure order for Burnley property to tackle antisocial behaviour

A closure order has been granted for premises on Forfar Street in Burnley after repeated reports of nuisance and disorder over a prolonged period of time.

Police worked closely with Calico homes and Burnley Borough Council in order to obtain the closure order from Blackburn Magistrates. The occupant of the premises, Shaun Ross, has been offered temporary alternative accommodation due to the current COVID-19 legislation.

A spokesman for Burnley and Padiham Police said: "The occupant of the premises, Shaun Ross, together with visitors to the address has repeatedly caused nuisance and disorder over a prolonged period of time seriously affecting the quality of life of other residents in the area. Ross repeatedly ignored warnings from Calico and the police and as a result we were left with no alternative, but to close down the address. Ross has been offered temporary alternative accommodation due to the current COVID legislation. The address on Forfar Street is now closed to all persons for a period of three months.

"Burnley police and our partners will not tolerate anti-social behaviour and will continue to take action and use available legislation against persistent offenders."
