Heroin with an estimated street value of over £500 has been discovered after a community tip off in Burnley.
The haul was made at 10-20am yesterday when officers from the Burnley Wood neighbourhood policing team raided a house in Sussex Street and discovered a number of large packages of heroin in the front room.
A 40-year-old man and 34-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of possession of heroin with intent to supply.
Community beat manager PC Rachel Carroll said: “People have told us that drug dealing, crime and antisocial behaviour are issues affecting their community. Not only do they bring obvious dangers to a person’s health, but also the risk of further anti-social behaviour and crime.
“It is with thanks to the local community that we have been able to take action to remove these drugs from our streets.
“In our efforts to tackle issues that affect the community we rely on information to help us. We must work together. If you know something, please speak to us so that we can take action.”
