A HEARTLESS thief who distracted a Burnley pensioner before stealing £200 is being hunted by police.

The 77-year-old man answered the door to his home in New Ground Court, off Marsden Road, around 6-50 p.m. yesterday.

A youth, thought to be aged around 17, claimed he had seen a rat to distract the man. He then made off with the victim’s wallet containing the cash.

The thief was white and was wearing a baseball cap.

Anyone with information should call Lancashire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers, in confidence, on 0800 555 111.
