HAMMER wielding burglars broke into the living area of a Burnley pub in a frightening early hours incident.

Police are appealing for information following the burglary around 12-30am on Sunday when three men entered the living quarters of the Rose and Crown pub, Manchester Road.

They were confronted by the occupants at which point the offenders threatened them with a hammer, demanding money. After a brief search, the men left the property empty handed.

DC Kim De Curtis said: “This was very frightening for the victims who were watching television in the upstairs living area of the pub when they were threatened by these men. Fortunately, they were not hurt and nothing was stolen but this was a terrifying ordeal.

“I would appeal to anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the offence and who may have seen anything suspicious to get in touch.

“I am also keen to speak to any customers drinking in the pub who, on leaving, may have seen the men. Thankfully crimes of this nature are rare and with the public’s help we can continue to keep it that way.”

The men are described as being in their late 20s to early 30s and were wearing hooded tops with the hoods up and scarves covering their faces.

Anyone with information should contact Pennine CID on 01282 472143 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
