Drivers told to slow down when travelling through Chatburn

Police are reminding motorists to keep their speed low when driving through the village of Chatburn.

The plea has been issued by PC Lee Butterworth, of Ribble Valley Police, after he witnessed a number of drivers exceeding the 30mph speed limit when both entering and leaving the village.

In a Facebook post, he said: "Speed limits are there for a reason. Whilst on duty in Chatburn, I witnessed numerous drivers exceeding the 30mph speed limit.

"Not only was there a marked police vehicle, but a large flashing sign to indicate your speed.

"Some motorists may have to keep an eye on their letterboxes in the near future. To those that adhere to the speed limit, thank you."
