Driver caught doing 95mph on M65 during lockdown

A motorist has had his car seized after he was caught driving at 95mph on the M65 with a provisional licence!

Police said the driver made the unnecessary journey to "test out" his car.

As well as being reported for numerous offences and having his vehicle seized, he was caught by police and issued with a Covid-19 fixed penalty notice for being in breach of Covid-19 regulations.

A spokesman for Lancashire Road Police tweeted: "Driver thought he would go out for a drive during lockdown and drive at 95mph on the M65 with his provisional licence, testing out his car.

"He was reported for numerous offences, had his vehicle seized, plus s COVID ticket. Really, there are no words!"

Amid the current lockdown, people must stay at home unless necessary.
