Reacting to information from the public, police officers spent earlier this week conducting targeted patrols in a bid to get drugs off the streets.

In a Facebook post, a Ribble Valley Police spokesman said: "After an increase in reports of drug dealing in the Clitheroe area, a number of targeted patrols have been conducted over the past week. This has resulted in several vehicles being seized on the periphery of Clitheroe.

"As a result of this activity there has been a small amount of disruption to the normal day-to-day business and travel on local highways. We have tried to keep this to a minimum and thank everyone for their patience and support. On the back of reports from local residents a further incident has occurred in the Woone Lane area resulting in the seizure of a large amount of Class A, Class B and Class C drugs. All of these were destined for street level use. This targeted activity will continue whilst we continue to receive information that drug dealers are blighting your neighbourhoods."
