The move was in response to repeated concerns from fed-up residents who have been plagued by noise from revved engines and anti-social driving in the evenings.

A spokesman for Nelson, Brierfield and Barrowford Police posted on Facebook: "A vehicle was seen by local neighbourhood officers (PC Andy Sarchet and PC Matt Lunney) overtaking and revving at high speed at the traffic lights junction Halifax Road/Colne Road in Brierfield. You tell us this is one of the main issues on the roads. So, for the unfortunate driver of this vehicle he had to say goodbye as it was seized by eagle-eyed office Sarchet. The driver’s actions caused alarm and distress, and they attempted to evade the officers down a side street. He was soon located and was apologetic for his unnecessary manner of driving. #YouSaidWeDid #AbuseItYouLoseIt."
