A CANNABIS factory with an estimated street value of more than £15,000 has been found at a house in Burnley.

Officers uncovered the plants and equipment at an address in Colne Road on Monday following an anonymous tip off.

Community Beat Manager PC Ivan Brown said the police were still looking into who was responsible for growing the plants.

“The plants were all large, very mature and were ready to be broken down to go onto the streets,” he said. “They would have been extremely valuable to the owner and would have brought in a significant income.

“No one was at the address at the time and enquiries are ongoing to identify the person responsible. The plants and equipment have now been removed and destroyed.

He added that information from the public was invaluable to solving crimes such as this one.

“I am thankful to the member of the public who brought the matter to our attention and I urge the community to continue to contact us with information or concerns about drugs so we can take action.”
