Burnley woman rescued by firefighters in “suspicious” blaze

A WOMAN was rescued by firefighters after a blaze broke out at her Burnley home in the early hours of this morning.

Fire crews found the woman, believed to be in for 40s, hanging out of a upstairs window at the property in Burnley Road, Cliviger at 5-30 a.m.

Emergency services broke down the front door before plucking the terrified woman to safety.

The blaze broke out on the stairs of the property and fire chiefs are treating it as “suspicious”.

An investigation is now underway by police and fire crews to establish the cause of the fire.
