AN ambitious young woman who set up a private detective agency has been shortlisted for a prestigious award.
Burnley-born Rebecca Jane (26) has had heaps of media attention since she formed The Lady Detective Agency, which now has clients from around the world.
Rebecca, who attended Wheatley Lane Primary School in Fence, now employs 15 private investigators at her agency in Manchester.
She has been shortlisted for the Business Woman of the Year category in the Enterprise Vision Awards which celebrates North-West women in business.
Rebecca said: “I started the detective agency and returned home to East Lancashire after selling my interior design business in the Lake District.
“Since then, the business has really grown and I have recently had clients from America, Switzerland and Sweden.
“The job has taken me and my staff all around the country, but I have recently branched out into selling equipment associated with the business.
“We use a lot of very hi-tech computer and audio equipment but there is definitely a call for that in people’s everyday lives.
“For example, we sell computer surveillance equipment which monitors traffic in internet chatrooms. Parents find this very helpful to keep a check on their young children.”
Rebecca has been a busy woman. Television cameras recently followed her around to make a pilot documentary on the business and she also this year appeared on ITV’s Good Morning programme.
The young entrepreneur has also signed up to talent agency Arlington Enterprises and is working on a book about her unusual work.
The public can vote for Rebecca by visiting www.enterprisevisionawards.co.uk. The closing date is September 30th.
