A painter who doesn’t usually drink stole two handbags in a pub when he did, Burnley magistrates heard.

Tariq El Barqarouy, who had never broken the law before, took a clutch bag containing £40 cash, a bank card and perfume, worth a total of £95 and a bag with an iPhone, pendant, passport and make-up in, to the value of £560.

The defendant (34), of Albert Street, admitted two counts of theft on February 7th. He was bailed until March 4th for a pre-sentence report after the District Judge said he wanted to know more about Barqarouy.
